Algarrobina is a molasses made from the Black Carob tree. It is popular in Peruvian cuisine and can be used in smoothies, cocktails, or simply in milk. It has high levels of protein and vitamins too!
However if you're looking for a less healthy option (!), you could try an algarrobina cocktail. Made with algarrobina molasses, milk, pisco (grape brandy), egg yolk, sugar and cinnamon, it's usually served ice cold and has become very popular in Peru!
